WRD for 7.26.26-8.2.26: Let’s Get Physical…

That is for my first two sessions of “physical” therapy.

It was at a place that my chiro recommended.  I’ve never been but why not?

They specialize in sports injuries.

Last Week-

  • Sunday – We skipped last weekend due to crappy weather and my 5k race but we were back on the lake today… and the weather was perfect! I also got lucky as there was a book sale at the library (next to our marina) and I bought Heather some books.

first time for geese on the island… but in my happy place, I had lunch and finished a whole book (Pineapple Street).

  • Monday – Started the day with an early visit to PT. He measured my range of motion (5 degrees on both and should be 15)… gave me exercises to do.

Looking ahead at the forecast for week, I saw a lot of rain. So I decided to go for a run at lunch.  HOT!! Sunny!!

wrong time of day to go… felt like 90… had to reduce my intervals to 30:30 so I wouldn’t die…

  • Tuesday – Another WFH day and today I knew that I should do my run early… before the heat and the rain…

still humid but was able to do 60:60 intervals and of course, I stopped for flowers…

  • Wednesday –  Last WFH day this week. I wanted to hit the gym but I had my 2nd PT appt instead…

I also needed an ark to get there as it rained all night and was pouring when I left.

not far from where I work if I wasn’t WFH…

The PT had me warm up on the bike, then gave me different exercises to do there, massaged my Achilles and then iced it…

It rained ALL day so I’m glad that I got those runs done Monday and Tuesday.

Tonight, I went to my monthly tennis ladies meet-up. Instead of going to a restaurant, we met at someone’s house, ordered in food and did a craft.

so fun… it’s jewelry rest

  • Thursday – Back to live teaching so just Starbucks instead of a run or gym visit before work…

Still raining but not as hard. Fingers crossed that it would stop so I could run and then walk the trails later.

I was shocked how sunny and warm it  was when I got out of work…

after standing from 8-4, my legs were like cement…

I ran near thetrails and then joined my friends to walk… (followed by ice cream!)

  • Friday – Same as the day before but mah jongg in the evening.

sunshine instead of rain and a different flavor coffee...

  • Saturday – Long Run and Brunch.  Similar to last week but 8 run/walk miles on my plan. I ran 4 solo and then Heidi kept me company for the last 4.

Afterward, we joined the others for brunch.

  • Sunday – I hope to start the day at the gym and spend the rest of the day on the lake… (weather permitting)

This Coming Week on the Run –

  • Monday gym, walk
  • Tuesday – run, PM PT, walk w/BFF
  • Wednesday – DAY OFF – race track
  • Thursday – AM PT, run, trail walk
  • Friday-  DAY OFF – NYC
  • SaturdayManhattan Ice Cream Social 10k

This Coming Week on the Blog –

  1. WHAT!!! The photo of those cars in the rain… yes, you did get dumped on! But it sounds like you’re back to running and managing the weather. Does the achilles still hurt at all? Increasing the ROM should help a lot, and prevent this from happening again.

Hope you’re enjoying a day at the lake right now!

  2. OMG, the rain!!!!

I’m glad you’ve been to PT and it seems you have some work to do that could help!

I constantly work on PT stuff, for old and new problems, currently shoulder mobility for angry front delts, stretches for lower back, and ankle mobility. And I still work on foot strength for hiking and long walks.

  3. That’s a serious amount of rain! Glad you didn’t have to drive there.

My PT has me doing single-leg calf raises. I think my calves are strong, but they burn pretty quickly! My last Achilles injury was due to tight calves, so I still stretch them religiously. I hope this PT works for you!

Glad you are able to keep running!

  4. It seems like all PT sheets come from the same library! I swear I have those same people as reference. However, my current PT plan is digital and I really like it. It makes PT seem more like a game than a boring session of bending my leg a certain way. I have been slacking a bit on it, but I try to do it every other day. I hope the exercises work for you! Mine seem to be keeping the pain away, fingers crossed 🙂

  5. Wow, that’s a lot of rain!

Here’s hoping physical therapy gets you back to full range of motion and you can get back to running without worrying about anything.

Nice job finding books on sale for Heather!

  6. Those lily pads are so pretty!

And my mom and I made the same scallop shell craft with the gilded edges! So fun and so pretty!

Glad PT is going well, and stay safe with all that flooding! It’s amazing how quickly the water can accumulate.
