I have a diagnosis 6 weeks after my injury.
I have 4 scheduled PT appts (starting July 27)
My foot is feeling much better so I am cautiously getting my running mojo back.
Last Week-
- Sunday – I started the day at gym as I usually do…
Then we headed up to the lake. We invited my stepson and his wife on our boat. So it would be our granddaughter’s first time.
We drove around, docked a few times, barbecued on an island, swam… and the weather cooperated. I think everyone had a fun time.
- Monday – DAY OFF.
I needed to avoid the hot temps that were predicted so I went for an early run…
Originally tennis was planned. But once I hurt my Achilles, I cancelled all my tennis for the summer.
Instead I met my tennis friends for brunch as one of my friends who had moved to Florida was up visiting.
The heat has returned so I resorted to walking in the mall.
- Tuesday – WFH all week…
I started today with a gym visit…
With 99 degrees predicted, my walking friends cancelled,
Instead, I went to my friend’s granddaughter’s softball game.. the clouds rolled in and it wasn’t as bad as I expected.
- Wednesday – Another early morning run… same plan but a different location. Not as hot but very humid and smoky.
- Thursday -Back to the gym (after a detour to feed my friend’s cats while she is on vacation.) WFH.
In the evening, I went to my weekly trail run/walk.
The air was very unhealthy so we walked the trail and attended their pot luck barbecue after…
- Friday- I decided to integrate a run with feeding my friend’s two cats.
I asked my friend Deirdre to accompany me. We did 30:30 run/walk intervals for 3 miles, then I ran to my friend’s house and added 3 more 60:60 run/walk miles. Long run done before work!!
I had originally scheduled a PT appt but once I got a script, I could go to another PT which specializes in sports injuries so I cancelled this appt. Unfortunately the first available appt. is on July 27. (My injury was on May 24)!!!
In the evening, I went to my weekly mah jongg game (and I won 3x!!).
- Saturday – Race scheduled for the next day… We thought we might go boating but the weather was iffy… rain on and off.
So instead, I went to the gym, then to feed my friend’s cats before I got my walking steps in on the rail trail (where my friends were running or walking).
We all met after for brunch (and conversation.)
Afterward I got some errands done including a trip to the farmer’s market, library, etc.
- Sunday – Keep MOOV’ing 5k. We ran it 2 years ago for the first time and loved it.
Last year it rained and we DNSed. This year, we decided that we are going rain or shine but hoping for shine.
And rain was on and off in the forecast. I plan to drive to Heidi’s and she will drive us to Lee, MA where the race will be held.
Since my Achilles is still not 100%, the course is hilly and I ran 6 miles on Friday, I plan to walk most of it… but more importantly, finish before they ran out of ice cream (the reason we chose this 5k. lol)
Stay tuned…

Funny that you’re not at the lake – I almost was. Ice cream ftw but you will not walk it

too cool and breezy today and it rained yesterday. A no lake weekend.
I did not walk the whole race, just the hills (since I did my long run a day early and was rested.

YAY for running again!!! It sounds like your achilles is on the mend. Great call to cancel the tennis though. I’m looking forward to the race recap- I hope you got your ice cream!

your grand daughter looks so cute! I bet she loved it out there on the boat. Challenging week weather wise for sure. Curious to hear what your PT will do for rehab-good luck

I’m curious too.
And yes I think she had fun.

Looks like your granddaughter had fun on the boat! I would also go for the PT person who was sports related. My general doctor is a sport medicine doctor so it works out very well for my active family!

I hope all goes well with your July 27th physical therapy appointment, but it sounds like you’re headed in the right direction already.
How was the race on Sunday, and more importantly, how was the ice cream?!
