FFF:18 Years Later

Who knew when my tennis friends talked me into taking a running class at age 55 that I’d still be at it 18 years later??

One of the best decisions of my life!!

What has changed through the years?

1.My Clothes.

2008: shorts (from Walmart?), cotton tank (from Target?), Saucony shoes

2026: Tank & skirt (from SkirtSports), Compression calf sleeves (from Zensah?), Topos shoes, Goodr glasses

2.The Technology

2008: Camera for photos, Nike chip in shoe (for distance/pace)

2026: iPhone for photos, Garmin (for distance/pace)

3. Distances

2008: 5ks ONLY

did I only have one outfit?

2026: 3 Marathons, 78 Half Marathons and countless 10ks, 15ks, 10 milers so far…

4. Speed

2008: 9-10 minute miles, trying to PR at every race

2026: Finish uninjured

5.  Social Connections

2008: Races every weekend

2026: Local running friends, local racers, bloggers, etc.

What has NOT changed?

My love of running, the feeling of accomplishment at the end of any race, wanting to keep running no matter how old or slow I get!!

Happy Running! How long have you been running?  How have things changed (or not)? Please share.

  1. I love all the old photos!!! I started running in high school, so as you can imagine a LOT has changed. I tracked my distances by first driving a route and looking at the car’s odometer. I guess I estimated my paces based on how long each run took me. And of course I was wearing cotton tshirts and shorts! Pretty funny.

It’s amazing how the love of running never dies!
