Ultimate Coffee Date for February 2026

It’s that time of the month…

time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.

1.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that in case you haven’t noticed, I changed my blog header.

The photos from my previous headers were very dated… probably from back in 2010?

I used chatgpt.  Not sure I like it but it was so easy that I can update it as needed.

2. Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I was scheduled to run THREE 10k races this winter.  Although I like 10ks, there aren’t many races for this distance. And running in NE is challenging due to weather conditions.

The first one was local on Jan 11.

The second was supposed to be on Feb. 1 in Central Park, NYC.

and the third March 7 is  local again.

March 2025 – snow squalls and wind gusts!!

While I was lamenting on missing the Manhattan 10k, I convinced my running friends to try to get into the NYC Mini 10k (on June 6.)

It was first come first served…. so I crossed my fingers that some of us would get in.

All 5 of us got in!!

3.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that as I’ve done every year, I have planned a week in Florida to visit friends and escape the cold temps of the NE.

More than ever, I need it this year.

4.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that although liked the medal and the course of the Publix Fort Lauderdale Half Marathon,

this year I chose a new race in West Palm.  It’s a 5k and it would take less prep, recovery and time away from my friends.

Thousands attend the Palm Beach 5k Race of Hope to Defeat Depression at Bradley Park February 15, 2025 in Palm Beach.

Definitely the right decision considering that I was sick for several weeks and would not have been ready to run 13.1 miles.

5.Over coffee…

I’d tell you that I am training for TWO half marathons on back to back weekends in March.

I’m excited that my two local friends decided to join me for the NYC Half Marathon. (Though I’m very nervous that I am behind in my training miles…)

The second one in Asheville, NC will be just a fun one. I’m looking forward to visiting a new place.

Runners pass by the Biltmore House during the Asheville Marathon and Half-Marathon, held on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate early Sunday morning. The races took place simultaneously, with over a thousand runners taking part. Brent Schouler of Asheville; age 23, was the top male finisher in the full marathon with a time of 2:43:19. Deborah Downs of Watertown, MA; age 38, was the fastest female in the full marathon with a time of 3:19:14.5. -3-15-15 Colby Rabon (colbyrabon@gmail.com)

Any recommendations?  Biltmore  Estate?

Happy Running! What’s new with you?  Please share.

  1. There’s a local race next weekend I’m considering… the Red Flannel. I haven’t run it since before Covid, but it was staple in previous years. Now it’s only a 15-minute drive, so I need to get back, right?

  2. You still have time to train for a half in March!

You’ll be happy to know that our extreme cold weather is ending. For the next ten days of so we’re looking at lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s, which I love. It should be nice for your visit! I just realized I never answered your text- I’ll do that today.
