That is a work trip to NYC… only 2 nights.
Last Week –
- Sunday – I took an early train down to NYC with a friend.
It was hot AF but we managed to have a nice time hanging out on Governor’s Island.
She left that evening to visit my college roommate in the Hamptons.
Too bad I was stuck working.
- Monday – After a long work day in Jamaica Queens, I returned to my hotel, changed into running clothes and headed by subway to Central Park.
It was so windy but it felt great compared to the heat and humidity of the day before.
- Tuesday – Just a work day and then the train home.
- Wednesday – I dragged myself out of bed and went for a run in the ‘hood before work.
- Thursday – Another early morning run… today I had more time and drove to the rail trail…
And then after work, I met up with my tennis friends. This month we went to a Salt Den and then out to dinner.
- Friday – Back to the gym before work and just mah jongg (at my house) in the evening.
- Saturday – Long Run Day and Brunch.
Still run/walking a leisurely 6 miles before I get serious with marathon training…
Woke up to pouring rain so decided to wait a little while and then rain or shine, just do it…
- Sunday – Gym and boating (weather dependent)
This Coming Week on the Run –
- Monday – run
- Tuesday – run, walk
- Wednesday – GYM, walk
- Thursday – DAY OFF – Firecracker 4 race
- Friday – DAY OFF – Hike-athon

Nice work in the humidity! I am not training for anything apart from keeping things up for the Birmingham Half next May. I didn’t get into the London Marathon so don’t need to worry about that …

I’ve never been to a salt den! What do you do there?
I hope you get out on the boat today!

Well you just relax.
We are lucky today. Looks nice out after some early rain.

we have a salt den somewhere in DC I think but have not tried. I was wondering if you felt anything more than a sauna or steam? Hope you are able to get out on your boat today-we are due for a stormy day

I felt nothing. But it was relaxing. I recommend trying it.
Today is a nice day for boating.

I think the view behind you in Governor’s Island is where I was on the East River Esplanade near the UN — right?
I have to figure out where that castle is in CP. So cute!
Was the salt den warm like a sauna?

The salt den was cold. But dark and relaxing.
Governors island is across from financial district but on the East River.
Where you and I get lost is further up. UN is 42nd.
Belvedere castle is mid park around 79.

I’m curious about the salt den- but I probably won’t rush to try it after your review.
Sounds like you had a really nice week- I’m excited for your marathon training. It starts in about a week, right? Hopefully the weather will cooperate with your long run schedule.
I hope you get out on the boat today!

What is a salt den, a fake beach? It reminds me of an odd place I visited with work colleagues years ago, that was an indoor beach with heat lights of sort to replicate a beach in the Pacific or something (I was very unimpressed). Hope you had a good day on the boat.

It’s supposed to have healing properties. Himalayan salt lights in a dark room.
Yes today was perfect boating weather.

Oh a salt den sounds interesting – you will have to share more because it sounds like I’m not the only one not sure about what it is .. hopefully the weather holds out and you get in some boat time today!

It was interesting.
A Halogenerator crushes pharmaceutical grade salt into small particles and then disperses it into the air. Salt mist is then inhaled, creating a cleansing and detoxing effect in the respiratory system.
I felt nothing but it was relaxing.
Weather was great today.

Hmmm, never heard of a salt den. Probably too “new and modern” for Iowa, LOL! Good luck with your race this week!

Another gimmick like red light therapy. Cryotherapy etc. my friend tries it all.
I won’t be going back. lol.

I love all your outfits coordinating with the flowers! So fun!
I do think all those “trendy” restorative things are a bit much, but salt air is very good for you. People always used to go to the sea to rejuventate and recharge, and I always feel better after time at the beach. But sitting in a beach chair in a salt room feels strange and I don’t think I would love it either.

I’d rather go to the beach. Just saying.

I think a sauna is more helpful. And a massage. This was a big meh

Like many other commenters I hadn’t heard of a salt den either. I usually don’t try most of those things, though, the wellness center where I used to work had a hypobaric chamber. I used it once just for the heck of it, but had I still been working there when I traveled to Jackson Hole for the Grand Tetons Half Marathon, I would have used it to help acclimate in advance to the altitude.

I have a feeling I would be claustrophobic in a salt den! 😂
Governors Island looks like an fun place. Interesting art exhibit.
