It’s that time again. Time to get things off my chest with Marcia’s Runfessions at Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
1.I runfess…
I complain about my lack of speed… A LOT!
I used to think that a finish time for a 5k was good for me if it were 27:xx.
When that stopped happening, I resigned myself to at least a sub 30 min. finish.
Guess what? That may never happen again.
And I realized that it doesn’t bother me (much) anymore.
Racing is just fun!!
And so I plan to continuer even if I have to walk a race.
2. I runfess…
I decided to skip a race that I have enjoyed in the past due to working on Sunday and having to change our boating day to Saturday (race day).
Of course, then there was a post on FB:
I also wanted to give a shout-out to those who have run all 4 editions of the race…Among the women are Meghan Bethel, Darlene Cardillo, Laura Clark, Jane Labombard, Jamie Lemiszki, and Jill Pederson.
Definitely FOMO on my part especially since due the weather forecast, WE DIDN’T GO UP TO THE LAKE!!
3. I runfess…
Speaking of races… (always)
I already registered for a December 10K.
Is that risky after running a full marathon and so far in advance?
It will be a race-cation in Tampa, Florida. No matter what it will be fun!!
4. I runfess…
I’m enjoying my relaxed long run schedule.
But soon it will be ending!!

You probably know that following a plan is not my strong suit.
So this time, I have TWO 8 week plans:
5. I runfess…
This hot weather has cut back on my sleep!!
I had to become a morning runner!!!
But I work all day and then do all sorts of things in the evening.
You get my drift.
Happy Running! Anything to runfess this month? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and The Running Teacher!

I do not envy you doing marathon training through a hot summer. Been there, done that, not fun. Somehow we manage though, right? Boating sounds so good about now!

Well, long runs don’t really start until Sept which is why I’m glad it’s NYC not Chicago.

Now that I’m able to run more again, I am wondering if I even want to race? I still shouldn’t push my hamstring, so it would be fall at the soonest.
You do so many fun activities, might as well keep running fun too!

Yes, I agree. Running should be fun but it’s hard to not want to race well.

If running isn’t fun, then why in the world are we doing it? It’s not like we’re going to win these races. (Except that you are still winning AG awards!) You could always do a run/walk of that 10K in December if you’re not recovered.
I’m excited about your upcoming marathon training!

I agree but it doesn’t always feel like fun until it’s over LOL

sounds like having a race training plan will help you a lot through the summer and fall. It’s nice to have a guide but also be flexible with it

I definitely will need to be flexible due to my work schedule.

I’m enjoying my non-training summer 😉 I’m keeping my base, but am keeping the racing calendar pretty empty (though I did just register for a 10K happening in a few weeks.

I bet you sign up for more races but it’s nice to be non-training for a few weeks.

I’ve always been a morning runner – but especially in summer.
I sign up for late in the year races early but only if they are likely to sell out or at a big discount!

I too hate to pay more $ for a race I want to run.

Without a fall race to train for I think summer running is pretty miserable. It looks like you’ve found a couple of good plans to follow for NYC – and I’m sure it will help that you’ve run it before.

brunch is such a great treat at the end of a hot run! I wish we had more brunch places near where I get my miles.
I am just enjoying the races for what they are. Right now, I barely want to run, let alone work on my speed. It’s just too hot and humid.
I hope you were able to get some boat time!

Brunch is a great motivator. We need more options too.
