Back in 2008, I wanted to run a 5k…
Well, we know how that turned out.
In 2010, I remember saying that I wanted to run ONE Half Marathon…
In 2019, I emphatically said, I AM ONE AND DONE!!
So four years later, why am I running the New York City Marathon again?
1.It’s so hard to get in and I GOT IN!!
Yes, it’s easier at my age to get a guaranteed entry due to a NYRR half marathon finish time…
but still, I’m grateful I can run that fast.
2. It’s relatively inexpensive.
Relatively because I can take the train there and I have enough hotel points for two free nights.
3. My Support on the Long Runs.
I have a great group of friends whom I can depend upon to run with me on those overwhelming number of weekend miles…
4. And Cheerleaders on Race Day!
It’s close enough that some friends can come watch the race, as well as, those who already live in NYC.
5. Carpe Diem!
I have lost several friends already to cancer.
There will come a day when I cannot run 26.2 miles.
I THINK I still can… so why not?
Happy Running! Is one distance enough for you? When and why? Please share.

It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and Zenaida!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other blogs!!

Yes yes yes to all of these! None of us know how many years we have left… we have to do the big things now, while we can. It sounds like you’re really set up for success here- a great mindset, great friends- i’m very excited about this!

That should be fun. You’re young. You’ll have plenty of time if you ever want to run it
