It’s that time of the month…
time to join up with Coco & Deborah for their ultimate coffee date.
1. Over coffee…
I’d tell you that my long races are done for a while and I don’t have one scheduled until September.
So it’s time to relax, just maintain endurance on the weekend and run shorter races.
2.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I do need to come up with a training plan for the marathon in November. I can’t believe it will be 4 years since my first and only marathon.
It may be my second NYC Marathon but I’m older. And since then I’ve had a neuroma and broken bone in my left foot.
So my goal again will be to just FINISH and enjoy the experience!!
3.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I will probably train the same way. I used and modified the Hal Higdon’s Novice one.
Hopefully I will not be travelling as often as I was in the fall of 2019. But I most likely will keep the Wednesday run shorter than listed below.
4.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that tomorrow I will be running the Freihofer Run for Women 5k for the 16th time (15th in person).
Yes, I’ve done it every year since I started running.
- FRW – 2008
- FRW – 2022
The course has changed. I have many more running friends and now I wear SKIRTS!
5.Over coffee…
I’d tell you that I’m heading back to NYC. Not for work. Not to race. Another college reunion.

we last met in October
We’ll meet at lunch and then head to the Met to see the Van Gogh exhibit.
This time, I’m staying overnight (with my college roommate) and of course, I plan to squeeze in a Central Park run first thing in the morning.
Happy Running! What’s new with you? Which marathon training plan have you used? Is there a race that you do EVERY year? Please share.
It’s Friday so I’m also linking up with bloggers, Me (My First 5K and More), Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and Zenaida!
So Join in!
And don’t forget to link back to your hostesses and visit some other bloggers.

Yay on Freihofer! That’s the one with cookies, right?
Summer is the perfect time for 5Ks.
It sounds like you have a good plan for the marathon!

5ks are hard but at least they are short.

Good luck and have fun with your 5k. It’s probably good you don’t have to do long runs for the next few months, in the heat.
That marathon training plan looks good! Yes, I think you can run a little
less on the Wednesday runs and still be ready for the marathon. The main thing is just to run consistently and get those long runs in. I’m very excited for you- I can’t wait to hear all about the training.

Thanks for your support… I will need all I can get.
I will be running long but no long races so less stressful and we don’t get the humidity you do.

I do the NYC Half and NYC Marathon every year and a few local races if they work in my schedule.
I’m also going to NYC again for a Bar Mitzvah and meet up. I was going to try to squeeze in the Mini 10K on Saturday but I can’t make it and get to the Bar Mitzvah on time.

I want to do the MINI one year but it sold out quickly. I’ll be there 6/12 & 13. Too bad you’ll be gone by then.
See you in Nov!

Your summer running schedule will look very similar to mine, except I won’t have any fall marathons on the horizon. Have fun at your race this weekend!

Because we both just ran some long races… and it’s hot in the summer.
It’s supposed to rain tomorrow but actually that’s better than the heat we’re having today.

4 years?! How is that even possible
” I don’t have one scheduled until September.”
Uh huh. Scheduled doing a lot of work there 😀
Can’t wait to see you next next week

I know… in some ways, it feels like yesterday and in others, a very different universe.
Looking forward to a pre-work (pre-work for you) run in CP on Tuesday, June 13.
One of these years, I will do the Mini and you will do Freihofers.

There were races I used to do every year (and Freihofers was actually never one of them, it just often seemed to fall at the wrong time). Enjoy the race — maybe it’ll be a bit cooler with the cold front coming through?
There’s nothing wrong with “just finishing” a marathon.

supposed to rain which is much better than today’s heat.
agreed… just finishing is preferable to not starting (or DNF)

I’m excited for you to be running NYC – crazy to think it’s been four years already…same with me but with all that’s going on there’s no way a marathon is in my future any time soon. I’ll live vicariously through you 🙂

You’re young.. you’ve got plenty of time to run a marathon and then I’ll follow your training.

Yay for running the NYC marathon again!
And what a fun tradition to continue running the Friehofer 5k! Is that the race that gives cookies?
Can you believe I’ve never been to any of my HS or College reunions? Have fun enjoying the city with your friends.

Yes. Cookies!!
It’s not an official reunion. I don’t go to those either.

Ok! Who’s the blogger!
Good luck today!
I am so excited for your NYC marathon. I’d love to do it, but it won’t be until after we are done with marching band. I’ll be in Troy, Alabama this year while you are running.
You are going to be having so much fun!

That’s a good goal to have! My one and only goal for my first/last half marathon was to survive and also hopefully enjoy the experience, hehe.
Have fun at your reunion! :]

Wow, 4 years since you ran the NYC Marathon? Time does go by fast! That is a good training plan. I used Hal’s plan for the half marathon in March and it worked out well.

Yes I can’t believe it’s been that long.
I do like his plan. I should look at the half one.
