TT: Dream Running Location

Yes, it’s Paris and it will always be Paris.

I taught French for over 20 years and visited many times.

But I only traveled to Paris once since I became a runner – in October 2018.

I was there for just a few days and I ran in a park (Bois de Vincennes), on an elevated walkway (Coulee Verte) and completed a 20k race.

The race took me past the highlights of the city (Eiffel Tower, Trocadéro, Arc de Triomphe, Bois de Boulogne, Roland Garros, Maison de la Radio, Grand Palais, Tuileries, Pont Royal, and left banks) but obviously I couldn’t stop and soak it all in.

So I’m due to go back, right?

I might even take a running tour this time.

  1. Sounds like you have a plan to run in Paris very soon!
I’ve run in France, but I’ve never run in Paris or the Paris Marathon. Come to think of it, that might be a good idea… I see it’s in April 2024.

  2. i have been to Paris and did many runs there! It was a while ago- about 25 years- and I was there working for six weeks. I did all sorts of self-directed running tours, like from my hotel to the house where Proust was born, or to the Arc de Triomphe and back. I enjoyed it, but nowadays I would rather run on a scenic trail somewhere.
So when is your Paris vacation???

  3. Mais oui!
Paris is hosting the Summer Olympics this year.
Did you know that on the 10 August, Paris will have the “Marathon Pour Tous”? It’s a night marathon and will be on the same route as the Olympic marathon. A friend of mine has signed up for it. So exciting!!

  4. I have run in Paris! Definitely a lot to see, and a running tour would be amazing. I think my ideal running location would be trails out in Utah or Arizona. But I wouldn’t turn down a trip to Paris.

  5. ahh…dream place to run? I’d choose somewhere with warm weather (obviously), and a beach! I’ve been to Hawaii twice, but didn’t have the opportunity to run either time . I wasn’t yet a runner the first time, and a very new runner the second time (so I didn’t know the value in taking the running shoes with me, LOL).

  6. Oh, Paris. I’ve been there twice, but never to run. It would be beautiful. I have a list of urban cities I would love to run in, but then there are the way out there locations, too. Have passport and running shoes. Will travel.

  7. Tough question! Maybe Hawaii. I ran my second half marathon there and since then I’ve run on the Big Island, Kauai, and Maui on vacation. It’s always hot but since it’s so beautiful, the distraction helps time fly by!
