This week, the topic is: Winter Fitness Rants
I have many but I’ll limit it to FIVE:
- It takes so friggin’ long to get dressed to run outside!! Shirt, vest, jacket, tights, two pairs of socks, gloves, hat, etc.
2. And you look fatter wearing all those layers. No arguing that winter running clothes are sexy.
3. There’s nowhere safe to run. All my favorite paths are covered with ice or snow or both.
4. There aren’t races every weekend. Just ONE real race in February. I am going through withdrawal.
5. I don’t own a treadmill so I have to run in the cold, wind, ice and snow. Wah…wah…wah. Poor me!!
Happy Running! Any more complaints that you can add to my list?
I hear you on how long it takes to get dressed! Also, I never quite know what to wear – how much is too much, but I don’t want to be cold, either! You should come to Texas this time of year – plenty of races here.

Yes, I hate being over-dressed.
I’d love to come to Texas!!

Totally all the clothes!!! It takes me longer to get ready and some days I feel like one outfit is an entire load of laundry! But can I say Indiana weather is being so kind right now! I’ve been out on my bike 4 times this week! We’re going to hit 71 on Monday!!! I’m loving it!!!

the laundry from all of the clothes we have to wear! I have so much stacked up all the time between me and my teenage son

Yup. Much easier when it was just wearing a skirt & tank.

Definitely hate the bundling up part. Because it is always freezing when you start but then you warm up quickly and there is no whee to put the layers that need to be shed.

That’s why I have to remember to dress for 20 degrees warmer. I have to be cold in the beginning to end up comfortable. It isn’t easy.

Whenever I race — or long races, anyway — I always look much heavier than normal cause all those pockets are stuffed with fuel and water. It’s definitely worse in winter.

That’s why I like Skirt Sports. You can hide stuff in the pockets which are under the skirt. I wear my skirts loose, remember.)

For a race, even the skirt pockets are not usually enough for me!

Because you carry water… They’re fine for a few packets of gu.

But I need the water.

Luckily we haven’t had any icy weather this winter. It sucks when we do because people don’t clear their sidewalks and/or the snow plows clear the roads ONTO the sidewalks. I think I have the same jacket you have on in that last pic!

Target? Ha ha.

Haha, good rant! I hate how the cold just sucks the breath right out of you!

It does. The wind makes the miles feel so much longer.

I don’t think you look fat at all! You pick the most flattering winter clothing!

Awww, thanks! I wish I could rock those tights like you do.

I don’t have a treadmill either, so it’s do or cry. But it makes us tougher mentally and physically! we can do hard things and cold temps! 🙂

You bet! Glad I’m not the only one.

Don’t forget all the extra laundry we have to do in the winter because of all those layers!

Ugh!

Yes, all the layers! Even though I don’t sweat through all of those layers, it’s a royal pain getting all the layers off…just to get to the bottom layer (or 3) that is saturated when I get back inside.

Yup. Even when it’s cold, I sweat through the bottom most layer.

We’re finally getting some warm weather where I live. It takes me forever to get all my layers put on in order to take my dog outside. I’m ready for spring! 🙂

Me too! But it’s just a tease. It’ll get cold again.
