2012 Goals Revisited

Obviously, I made my 2012 goals prematurely!! 2012 may be my starting over year.  Watch out for 2013 and my Epic Comeback!

I now have NEW (very conservative) goals:

  1. Run 3-4 times a week ALL YEAR (use the treadmill when it is too cold or slippery or raining outside) Follow doctor’s orders and stay off ankle until allowed, go to PT and do the recommended exercises, and start to run when & as often as recommended
  2. Continue fitting in tennis and yoga at least once a week (as cross-training) Same as above, start tennis & yoga when allowed, join a gym to do crosstraining/machines to stay fit
  3. Finish my 5K races under 30 minutes and not stress about a PR (though getting one would be super!) Run a 5k race before the end of the year, if I am able to run several, get faster with each one
  4. Get an Age Group award
  5. Run a 10K race
  6. Run a 10 mile race
  7. Run at least one half marathon 4.  Start to train for a half marathon in 2013
  8. Run at least 12 races (one per month, if possible)
  9. Run a race in another state
  10. 5. Run a NEW race
  11. 6. Listen to my body and slow down when necessary (In other words, do not get re-injured…)
  12. 7. Continue blogging regularly (to keep track of miles, as a motivator, to meet new runners…)
  13. 8. Volunteer at a race
  14. 9. Bring a cell phone whenever I go running alone

Happy Running!  Have you ever had to revise your goals?

  1. I had to change my end of summer/fall races when I ended up inthe hospital with a blood clot in August. I had a half, and several 10k’s I was going to do that I wasn’t able to complete. Your first goal is to get better!!!

  2. Aw, shoot. I ran super slowly on ice last week. Hmmm….thanks for posting, I won’t be running on ice at all throughout the rest of the winter. Get well soon.

  3. +1 on the carrying a cell phone on runs! This is actually the reason I broke down and got an iphone so I could consolidate technology. Before I got that, my family would sometimes come out looking for me if I was gone too long (I have a heart condition.) You have to plan for the awful crap.

I love that you are going to volunteer for a race. That is one of my goals for the year as well.
