Every Friday, three DC area bloggers Mary at Mar On the Run, Cynthia at You Signed Up For What?! and Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC to host the Friday Five linkup. Anyone can join with their own Friday Five post (yes, it must be a Friday Five!!) They encourage you to visit other blogs on the linkup, comment, share and engage!
This week, the theme is Five Things
1. I am not athletic or coordinated at all. I never played a sport growing up but in my 40s, many years before I ever thought of running, I started playing tennis. And like I am with running now, I was obsessed. I played everyday. I took lessons and played on several teams. I still play but it has definitely taken a backseat to running.

2. My favorite foods are pizza and ice cream. I have no self-control when it comes to these foods. (In other words, I stop eating them when there is no more left.)

3. I was a French major in college, spent my junior year in the south of France and was a French teacher for over 20 years. I still love everything French. I have seen Les Miz at least 12 times. (My dream to run a race in France.)

I love French desserts (and art, movies, etc.)

4. My birthday is the same day as Billy Joel‘s (May 9). I have seen him in concert many times. We are also both from Long Island. (He actually was part of a band that played at my friend’s sweet 16 party.)

5. My clothes (almost) always match. Neurotic? I used to say about tennis: “If I don’t play good, at least I’ll look good.” Beauty before fitness?

too much purple?

Happy Running! Tell me 5 things about you!

I used to play tennis as well, love it! I’ve been thinking of picking it up again, though I’d probably need a couple lessons to refresh my memory 🙂
I ran my first 5k in 3 years this past Saturday and then spent Sun, Mon, and Tues barely able to walk. I couldn’t believe how sore I was! I don’t hate running, but I don’t necessarily enjoy it either 🙂 I’ve been much more into piyo (kind of like yoga and pilates mix) lately and weight training. I would love to build up some muscle and definition before this summer.
Hopping over from the link up! Nice to meet you!

Oh you should try tennis again. I bet it comes back to you. I didn’t love running at first but as I made friends and connections, I got addicted to it.

Good thing we are runners with all the pizza and icecream we eat! I visited Paris a few yrs ago and it was such an amazing city. I wish I could learn French. I go to Canada all the time for work. Wish I could speak the language.

I definitely like your theory about matching! I actually use to belong to a tennis club and loved it! I think I stopped going when the prices went up and discovered I could play at the local courts for free. I haven’t been in years though! -M

I’d forgotten that you’re my birthday twin! Orange is my favorite color, so I have a lot of orange things, and generally end up looking more match-y than intended because of all the orange.

That’s right, you, me & Billy Joel 🙂

One of my favorite running songs is Billy Joel’s “River of Dreams”. I always love your race outfits! Gotta look good! I bet tennis helps you with running too.

Not sure. Running is my priority. I play because of pressure from friends.

We have a lot no common! I am addicted to ice cream and even wrote a blog post about it! I also love France and can’t wait to run a race there, preferable at DLisneyland Paris! Tennis was also an obsession of mine long before running. I played serious tennis and my partner and I always had to have matching outfits. We even had special team outfits with matching warmup suits! Crazy right?
