Back to guess where? And my last Half Marathon for 2018!!
- Monday – Though I was tired from the weekend, I do love my NYC runs. I started along the Hudson River
but for safety sake I ended up running on the city sidewalks. Crowded for sure but I got to see some the holiday decorations.
- Tuesday – Today after work I took the subway to Central Park. I was hoping to run with Cari but she was stuck at work so I was solo. Not really. There were lots of runners in the park.
I walked back to my hotel. Again admiring the lights of the city at Christmastime.
- Wednesday – Rest Day. Train home after work.
- Thursday – Race Day – Troy Turkey Trot 5k. Well the night before there was a train derailment which led my train to be stuck an hour away. My hubby picked me up but I didn’t get home until after 11 pm. I also woke up to negative single digits with the windchill so I decided to skip the race.
It felt really strange not to race on Thanksgiving Day. I had done a turkey trot every year since 2009 (except 2012 when I was injured.) I waited for the temps to warm up to double digits and ran my own 5k. It was not fun but got it done.
Later in the day I ate back all the calories I burned and more at the family Thanksgiving dinner.
- Friday – Rest Day and drive to Pelham with Alyssa. After checking into our hotel, we picked up our bibs and carb loaded at dinner.
Then we walked off our dinner at a nearby mall.
- Saturday – Race Day. Pelham Half Marathon – the hilliest race ever. I mean I had problems even walking up the hills. But Alyssa and I survived and had fun. It is great local race. I even won my age group.
- Sunday – Rest Day and I deserved it!
This Coming Week –
- Monday – 3 miles??
- Tuesday – 3 miles, mall walk with BFF
- Wednesday – train to NYC, 4 miles
- Thursday –3 miles (in NYC)
- Friday – rest day, train home
- Saturday – Long Run with Sole Sisters (6 miles) or Jingle Bell 5k
- Sunday – rest day and anniversary Mah Jongg dinner

It must be so beautiful to run with all the Christmas decor in NYC. Wow another age group win!? This is your year for running indeed! Congrats

It’s not that impressive at my age LOL. And yes, NYC is special at this time of year.

It does look like my Turkey Trotting days are over — again. Because next year most likely we’ll be traveling on Thanksgiving.
It felt kind of nice to not be “running” around this year, though.

Altamont has a fun 5k the Saturday after.
I did miss racing on Thanksgiving day. I’ll most likely be back at it next year.

Most likely traveling next year so no, highly doubtful.

My Turkey Trot (half) is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I like it and especially this year because I got to do bootcamp with my son! Congrats on your AG win at your race! I can only dream of that…

I was the only one in my age group LOL.
And I’m in an older age group. Yours is still tough.

Wow, how ambitious to do a Half on Thanksgiving weekend! I heard Lord & Taylor is closing it’s 5th Avenue store — I hope you got to see it’s display this year.

I walked by last week. I’m not sure they have a display this year.

I visited NYC twice (2004 and 2008) just before Thanksgiving and enjoyed the holidays lights already on display. I bet they are more plentiful now. Keep those pictures coming. Congrats on surviving that hilly half and winning your age group. You’re my hero. Thanks for linking!

So nice that you were able to see some holiday decorations on your run this week. While NYC is always crowded, I do appreciate the city around the holidays because everything is just so pretty.

Pretty runs not great ones and the half was the hardest I’ve ever run. Glad it’s over.

You’re better than me, if I had to DNS a Turkey Trot, I wouldn’t do a redo later in that same day, haha!
I love NYC this time of year, it’s just so festive! Can’t wait to visit in a couple of weeks to see a show!
Congrats on your half marathon and AG win – can’t wait for the recap!

-6?! No thanks! I haven’t ever done a race on Thanksgiving but I do try to get a run in at some point. Your food picture made me want Thanksgiving dinner all over again haha

There is NOTHING like NYC at the holidays. So jealous that you get to experience that so regularly.
I might have bailed on the Turkey Trot, too, with those temperatures. It was in the high 40s/low 50s here, and that was enough to make me think twice LOL!
Congratulations on another fantastic AG win! You never cease to amaze me!

It’s only because I’m OLD and you don;’t have to run fast to win LOL

I would be sad to miss a Turkey Trot – I’ve been running them since 2010, except for when we were out of town – but that would be a big OH HELL NO to running in a feels like minus six degree morning. You made the right decision on that one!

I think so. But I missed running it.
