Yup, 3 days in Liverpool for work and 2 days in NYC for fun.
- Monday – The hot muggy weather continued. After I set up for my job in Liverpool, I decided to go for a run along Onondaga Lake. Well with the heat index at 99 and little shade, it was a sweat fest. But I got it done and returned to the hotel just seconds before the sky opened up.
Eventually the torrential rain stopped and I went back to the park for a sunset walk.
- Tuesday – Another rainy day but not as hot as the day before. The rain had stopped by the time I finished work so I headed back to the park. It was still very humid and this run felt even harder than the day before.
Again instead of sitting in my hotel room, I took my another sunset walk. The sky was clearer and definitely a worthy of the view.
- Wednesday – Another rainy day. Nothing new here. But the rain stopped so on my way home, I stopped at the same park for a quick run. Humidity prevailed and I struggled….
- Thursday – Rainy morning led to a sunny day. Of course, I had too much to do to run. I declared it a “Rest Day.”
- Friday – Another Rest Day because I had to get to NYC to meet up with my Russian friend Anna. Her train was late so I rushed to pick up our race packet then we spent the evening catching up and having fun in the city.
- Saturday – Race Day. Governor’s Island 5k. The logistics were pretty complicated. We had to get up early to take an Uber to where we would catch the ferry to get to Governor’s Island. To make matters worse, A huge thunderstorm hit as soon as we got to the island and the RACE WAS CANCELLED!!!
Initially we were bummed especially since the rain stopped but we decided to make the best of the day
and evening.
- Sunday – We got up early and went for a 5k run in Central Park, had lunch there and then I had to bid Anna farewell. Rushed for time, I ran back to the hotel and then walked back to Grand Central to take the train home.
This Coming Week –
- Monday – train BACK to NYC for work, 4 miles
- Tuesday – 3 miles
- Wednesday – 3 miles, blogger meet up with Cari
- Thursday – 3 miles
- Friday – rest day, train home
- Saturday – 5k Race + more miles or Long Run
- Sunday -rest day, Boating

Those sunset photos are lovely — great incentive for getting out after the rain. Bummer on the race being canceled but it looks like you packed in even more fun!

Your sunset photos are gorgeous, and I was behind on IG this week so don’t think I saw them earlier. I thought of you when the storm woke me up yesterday. So bummed it was cancelled, and so late in the game, but glad you still had a great visit with your friend. Today ended up lovely for a run, which I realized too late.

The theme for last week was definitely rain rain rain, ugh! Such a bummer about the race getting cancelled 😦 the storms were kind of all over the place on Saturday

What a shame that you didn’t get to run your race! I’ve had race starts be delayed for t-storms but never canceled. It seems like that’s happening more often these days. Ugh.

Really crappy since it was not local. No refund either.

We’ve had races delayed to let the storm pass over (if the radar indicates that it should), and it’s too bad the organizers of your race didn’t do that. Frustrating, and yes, expensive. Glad you had a great time with Anna all weekend, though. And I’ll echo the others – your sunset walk pictures are so, so pretty!

Thanks.
It was probably a hard call whether to cancel or not.

Nice sunsets! And what fun to meet up with Cari.
Running has been a real struggle lately. I’d actually like to be rained on — a little, anyway — by the time I finish I sure look like I’ve been rained on anyway.

I’m preparing to hear that my race gets canceled this week too. We have some major fires going on in our area. One of which is pretty close to the race course. BOO! 😦

Oh no. I hope it doesn’t. At least this was not a big rain that I was training for.

Looks like you had to dodge a few rainfalls as well. Ugh. Bummer about your race, but it sounds like you and Anna had a great time 😉

The humidity is THE WORST. I melt every day. But it is what it is and I know it will come to an end at some point. maybe.
I hate that your race got canceled. Will they reschedule or is it just done?

They rescheduled it for sept 29. But I can’t afford the train and hotel again. And Anna lives in Moscow.

Oh wow they cancelled the race once you got there!? Glad you were able to have fun anyway. Those sunset shots are great!

Seriously, this weather needs to be nicer. :[ Those sunset walks definitely look gorgeous though! Sorry to hear that the race was cancelled, but I’m glad you still got to enjoy/make the most of the rest of your day!

I can’t believe you’ve also had the crap weather!! At least you got some miles in! and those sunset walks! what a view!
you and Anna made the most of it , it looks like but WHAT A BUMMER the race was cancelled! I’ve only had two races cancelled on us because of weather and they were both for snow! I guess it rains so much here in the Netherlands it phases no one if it happens during a race!
you have to go to the city a lot for work!!

I do go to NYC and that is much better than renting a car and driving.
I was surprised they cancelled especially since it stopped raining shortly after.

Wow, you were treated to some gorgeous sunsets last week! I’m convinced that there’s nothing quite like a summer sunset. The sunsets the rest of the year just aren’t the same.

Your sunsets walks are absolutely stunning! I know you were bummed about the race being cancelled. But, it looked like you and your friend made the most of it and enjoyed touring in NYC. I think it’s pretty cool you ran right in the middle of a race in Central Park too. 🙂 Thanks for linking!
