Weekly Wrap for 6.18.18-6.24.18: Home Sweet Home

ru

I did only local travel so I slept in my own bed ALL WEEK. And I didn’t run a race!!!
  • Monday – After set up for my training the next day, I went for a run at the Crossings. With the heat index over 100, it was more like a slog. It rained a little but after the rain, it was cooler but more humid Ugh!

  • Tuesday – After work, I played tennis.  It’s been awhile but as usual so fun to catch up with my friends.

time to kill before tennis so this happened

Afterwards, I met my BFF at the mall to walk and chat.

  • Wednesday – After work, I hadn’t planned to run but I realized that I wouldn’t be able to run the next two days and rain was forecast for both Saturday and Sunday so I did go for a run.

on my local rail trail

  • Thursday –  Rest day due to an after work hair appointment. Afterward, I went to a Women’s Wellness Retreat with two friends. The grounds were beautiful but otherwise the event was disappointing since it seemed to be a way to convince you to sign up for their classes (meditation, etc.)  Speakers, some breathing ex, speakers, some seated yoga, more speakers.

the gardens were beautiful also

  • Friday – Another rest day.  Hosted mah jongg at my home. Does cleaning count as a workout?
  • Saturday – I was hoping that the rain would hold off so I could squeeze in a long run. I met up with 4 friends and we all had different mileage plans so although we started out together, I ended up only running with Judy (not this Judy). It was a GREAT run (she pushes me to not walk and I push her to run faster) and then we all went out to brunch.

  • SundayBoating Sunday. Boating rained out. But it was a very productive day. I went to the gym, went for a long walk on a new trail, got my nails done, went grocery shopping and did ;laundry.

This Coming Week

  • Monday –  3-4 miles
  • Tuesday   travel to Rochester for work, 3-4 miles
  • Wednesday – 2 miles, drive home
  • Thursday – rest day, monthly tennis friends night out
  • Friday – rest day, mah jongg
  • SaturdayAdirondack Race to the Lakes 15k
  • Sunday – rest day, boating

  1. It must have felt great to be home this week and to be able to sleep in your bed every night!

Monday’s weather is terrible! I was in NYC for half of the day and I just couldn’t believe the humidity and also the heat. I felt like I was melting when walking in the sun lol.

Awesome job on your long run this week!

  2. Always love your skirts, but especially the colors in the top one. Glad you got to enjoy a week home, well deserved.
Speaking of boating, I bet GlassBarge was rained out today. Bummer as I know my brother was looking forward to it

  3. i bet if felt heavenly to sleep in your own bed! I’m sorry your boating got rained out. I didn’t go either (working on switching to a new boat) but it’s scary how Labor Day will be here before you know it and the season will be over! Glad you enjoyed your run with Judy too. Thanks for linking!

  4. I vacuumed then mopped my entire house on Friday and I was sweating like a fiend, so yes, absolutely, cleaning counts as a workout! Happy to hear you had a week home – that must have felt so good!

  5. Dang, it’s as hot up there as it is down here! That sounds brutal. I know you had to enjoy being home all week.. that work travel has to get old at times. But then there’s all those cool running routes in the city that you get to take in! Glad you and Judy got to run together …bet it was nice to catch up!

    • Different Judy that the one that blogs.
It was only warm for one day unlike what you deal with.

It was nice to be home. I’ll be back in the city in August.

  6. hooray for no travel and sleeping in your own bed!

I love the mural/painting on the rail trail! I try to hit up places in town that are painted – am always amazed by the colors! it’s the little things that really make me smile on a run 🙂

cleaning DEFINITELY counts as a workout!

I had a really good running week – 2 x training and 1 long run. It’s all going a bit too smooth to believe really!

What’s new: mostly we are pimping up our house again – re-doing two rooms and clearing out a bunch of junk. We’ve been wanting to do this for ages so both the Hubs and I really motivated to get it down now!

    good luck on your 15K!

    • Our house really needs work. It’s hard to get motivated to do it in the summer.

Great news that your running is going well.

  7. The weather was not conducive to running all week — except for Friday, when of course I didn’t have a whole lot of time! This week is going to get even worse — at least it will be cooler up in Lake George for your race (if still not cool).

    • Sat was great. The only day I remember being bad was Monday but I may have blocked the others out. We do run at different times and I only ran like 2 miles and no drills. Makes a big difference.

We’ll see about Sat. Forecast is for 90-95. The race is not along the lake as the former race was. But it’s not a goal race. Just running it cuz my friend is the director.

    • I hope you do get to go boating soon. I hope we have better weather this coming weekend.

I procrastinate on the nails. They were a long time coming.

  8. Running in the heat and humidity is rough!! x_x It’s been raining almost every weekend, which is the only time I usually get to go explore outdoors–super sad. I hope the sun comes back soon!

  9. LOL it’s weird to see you without a race on the weekend, haha! I’m glad you had a nice week. The weather has made running tough I’m sure…I’m on hiatus right now due to Plantar Fasciitis.

Too bad on that wellness retreat…the grounds do look pretty though!

  10. What a wonderful week for you!

Sorry that the retreat ended up being disappointing. I hate it when things like that turn into a sales pitch. It’s such a turnoff.

Hopefully you are able to make up for the boat rainout.
