Monday Running Update

mon r u
Last Week:

  • Monday Snowstorm.  Yes, in April.!!! My group run got cancelled.  I actually went for a short walk to the park and back but it was freezing so then I used the exercise bike.  Not happy with Spring 2016.

snow as almost as high as my Grande cup

  • Tuesday – Even though it was windy and cold, I did go for a walk to the park (& Starbucks). I skipped tennis in favor of my re-scheduled Freihofer Training Challenge group run. (My tennis elbow is still on the mend anyway.) It was freezing but I survived some 1 minute sprints with the speedsters.

Then I went to the mall to get more steps and do more bargain shopping.

  • Wednesday – I continued my walk a day at work. After work was my first run with the STEM Couch to 5k group. I got there early and ran a sluggish 3 mile loop.

This STEM group was so enthusiastic. I can’t wait to run with them again.

  • Thursday – I got to work and found 9 dozen of the best doughnuts in our area. And this is “our be healthy month!” WTH?

Of course I had to have one…or 2.

the Cappuccino one was the best!

I tried to squeeze in a run before the rain but was not successful. But I did use the treadmill before I left work to go to my hair appt.

Anyone watch Call the Midwife?

  • Friday – Other than one walk, it was a real rest day followed by an evening of mah jongg (and to bed too late!)

there was beachball volleyball during lunch but my tennis elbow prevented me from playing

still waiting for tulips in the park – this was the only flower I saw during my walk

  • Saturday – Ran a chilly 5k race. I switched from the 10k to the 5k because I didn’t want to run the hills.

not a PR but 1st in my AG and an apple pie

While I was waiting for the results, I ran another 3 miles.

Then I drove to the Zim Smith Trail to run more miles with Judy and her friend Denise. I celebrated my 12 mile run day with delicious bread pudding.

img_9124Later I went out to dinner with the hubby.

  • Sunday – I knew we had to pay so I left this to the last minute…TAXES!!! And laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning…not my favorite activities. But it was still sunny when I was done so I went for a walk.

23.5 miles done with 4 runs and 3 rest days.

This Week:  (2 weeks until Half Marathon #19)

  • Monday  Freihofer Challenge Group Run (4 miles)
  • Tuesday – rest, tennis?
  • Wednesday 3 mile run, STEM Couch to 5k run
  • Thursday rest, mall walk with BFF ?
  • Friday 3 mile run, mah jongg
  • Saturday rest, day with mentee & sons
  • Sunday – 10 miles

  1. I think I have to face the treadmill again today, especially as Lola threw up last night and I want to keep an eye on her. She just got a perfect bill of health from the vet, but this intermittent vomiting has been going on a while with no rhyme or reason & is not like her. And naturally it meant I didn’t get much sleep last night either.

I’m looking forward to some skirt weather this coming weekend — they better have gotten that forecast right!

    • I have a group run tonight. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain.

The last time I looked, the forecast was for rain Fri, Sat & Sun. I am hoping that I can squeeze a 10 miler in there somewhere.

Hope Lola is ok. 2 out 4 of my cats throw up all the time. But since otherwise they act ok, I ignore it.

  2. You ran enough miles to cover those donuts 🙂 Great mileage!
I hate when I come in and there are sweets everywhere, happens frequently where i work. I don’t like being next to it all day!
    Yay! another AG win!

  3. Wasn’t the snow crazy?! We didn’t get nearly as much as you did here in southern ohio but we did get enough to make me mad.. lol..

    Also, LOVE Call the Midwife!

  4. Too funny they brought donuts in from a great place on a health month, LOL
Snowstorms everywhere it seems. That is normal here this time of year, but I am guessing not so much in other areas. I’d say you had a pretty great week, despite having your group cancelled for the weather, great job!!!

  5. I cannot believe the snow! WTH? Now I am sure those donuts were healthy- those real homemade from scratch ones are hard to turn down! Sounds like you made the best of the week despite your crazy weather!

  6. The beachball volleyball game sounds like so much fun! The last time I played real volleyball was at a campground an I had so much fun but dang my arms and shoulders were hurting the next day! I’m glad my office only has men, they never bring sweets so I don’t have to worry about finding them in the kitchen. But I did purchase some cornflake candy yesterday to have as an after lunch treat….

  7. What do you mean a cappuccino doughnut? I want one. Ha ha — during health month at that. I bet your award tasted so much better than mine. I left my taxes to the last minute for the same reason. My last spring half is this weekend and I’m already having withdrawals and trying to find ONE more. Thanks for linking with us Darlene.
